Handling of Personal Information

The Security Transparency Consortium complies with all laws and regulations regarding personal information.

What is personal information?

Personal information is information about an individual (address, name, telephone number, e-mail address, etc.) that can be used to identify a specific individual.

Collection of Personal Information

When personal information is collected through the Consortium’s activities, the purpose and scope of use will be clarified.

Use of Personal Information

Personal information collected by the Consortium will be handled within the scope of the purpose of use clearly indicated in advance.

Measures for safe management of personal information

The personal information protection administrator shall be the Consortium Vice-President.
Under the supervision of the Personal Information Protection Manager, the Consortium will appropriately manage the personal information provided. In addition, the Consortium will take appropriate and reasonable security measures to prevent the leakage of personal information to outside parties and to protect personal information from loss, alteration, destruction, and unauthorized access by outside parties.

Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

The management of personal information is outsourced to the managing corporaions, NTT and NEC. Both corporaions serve as the consortium’s secretariat.
Personal information provided will not be provided to third parties without the prior consent of the individual, except in the following cases.

  1. When required by law.
  2. When responding to a request from a public agency.
  3. When necessary to protect the life, body or property of an information provider related to a member of the Consortium.

Disclosure, Correction, Suspension of Use and Deletion Requests of Personal Information

If the Consortium receives a request for disclosure of a User’s personal information from the User himself/herself, the Consortium will disclose such information to the User without delay within a reasonable scope.
However, this shall not apply in cases where the disclosure would prejudice the rights of other third parties, or in cases where the disclosure would seriously impede the performance of the Consortium’s business.
In addition, if a user requests correction, suspension of use, or deletion of his/her own personal information, we will correct, suspend, or delete the information as soon as possible.
